Where You’ll Be Shopping This Spring: Miss Selfridge

By Cate Sevilla

You’re probably getting a bit bored with all of the gloom and doom in the shops at the moment, aren’t you?

It all seems a bit down in the dumps. It’s all black and dark colors. It’s all studded and big shouldered and aggressive looking. Leggings are overly shiny and ripped. Dark lipsticks, dark nail varnish, it’s all dark dark dark.

So you can imagine my joy when I got a sneak peak of the new Miss Selfridge Spring Summer collection for 2010 at their latest press day and the collection was...well, fun.

Maybe fun is a bit of an understatement. BRILLIANT. How about that?

Every bit of black was balanced out with cream or white or red. There were patterns and hearts and bows!

From boho-festival garb to vintage inspired dresses and tops, Spring and Summer with Miss Selfridge is not only going to be girly, it’s going to be absolutely fabulous.

While what Topshop has to offer next season is muted, and almost, in my opinion, a caricature of itself – Miss Selfridge’s offerings are top notch.

Even the way it was presented was fun. Between the balloons, the stars, the teacup fascinators and and the carasel horses, I get the distinct impression that that when the clothes I saw finally hit the shops, it will be a breath of fresh air.

Colorful, bright, and girly fresh air.

Ooh, looks great. I'm so sick of all the black, boring stuff that's around at the moment. Bit of a disappointing winter IMO.
