Tried & Tested: Three Fantastic Hair Products

By Cate Sevilla

While I’m not someone who lights up with aroused joy at the thought of stepping into a Sephora or Ulta, when I find a hair product I like, it makes me pretty damn excited.

Lately, I’ve come across a couple products that make me squeal with happy-haired glee, and I thought it would be a crime not to share them with you.

Lush’s American Cream Conditioner

I am absolutely head over heels in love with this conditioner. From the way it smells (delicious) to the way it leaves your hair feeling (soft, shiny, fantastical) everything about this conditioner is amazing. American Cream is suitable for vegetarians (even though no one should be eating this) and is made from all natural ingredients including vanilla, oranges, sage oil and lavender oil.

This conditioner paired with any of Lush’s shampoo bars (my favorite is Soak ‘n Float) will leave your hair feeling amazing, but will have been cleansed naturally and gently. It’s a win win situation, girl.

Philips TRESemmé Salon Control Ion Shine Hairdryer

The fact that I’m even writing about a hairdryer says quite a bit, as I do not buy them very often. I hate drying my hair, I rarely use a curling iron, and I’ve never even owned a hair straightener. Before buying the Philips TRESemmé Salon Control Ion Shin Hairdryer (longest name ever!) I was using a crappy Babylon travel-sized hairdryer, but when I saw this baby on sale at Super Drug for £13.50 – I was all over it.

Not only can it boast being one of the quietest hairdryers on the market (you can actually have a conversation while drying your hair, which is a revelation in itself) but having the directional heat feature on it is amazing. There are three heat settings and three heat settings, in addition to the nifty Ion Shine button – which admittedly I’ve never used. Perhaps I’m saving it for a special occasion.

While this hairdyer is sold out on Philip’s website, you can still find it in shops and on Amazon.co.uk.

Garnier Fructis Style Flexihold Hairspray

I am incredibly picky about hairprays. I don’t want anything that stinks, that makes your hair look greasy and wet when you use it, and something that also allows your hair to move naturally without falling out of place. Yes, it’s a lot to ask, but this hairpray does it all and it does it all well.

It smells nice, and it holds extremely well without making you feel like you have a helmet head.

I would also absolutely recommend Ojon's dry shampoo. My hair tends to get oily easily but also freaks out if I wash it every day (sucks). This stuff actually clears up oil, restores volume and texture and smells like freshly washed hair. It's amazing and I use it all the time! Definitely definitely definitely pick some up.
