When I was a teenager, smelly body sprays, sparkly scented lotions and soaps were all the rage.
My friends and I were obsessed with the goods at Bath & Body Works and The Body Shop. Sweet Pea, Sun Kiss Raspberry, Blueberry Pie – whatever it was, if it smelled awesome, it was in our make-up bag and a part of our beauty routines.
Eventually I realized smelling like artificial fruit and “ocean breezes” wasn’t all that great, and turned to non-scented things and just simple perfumes that I liked. (Products that were name after sexy fruits were out.)
It wasn’t until my recent trip back to California that I discovered some fabulous and delicious smelling beauty products that don’t leave you smelling like you rolled around the floor of Lush.
Having bath gels and shampoos that smell delicious but won’t attract wildlife and bees to your body the minute you step out the door are where it's at. Plus, using products in the shower that smell fabulous while your washing up make stepping into a hot shower at 6am all that more enjoyable.
Hell, if have to bathe or shower, it might as well be an enjoyable experience, right?
So what lovely smelling, food inspired products have I been testing out and loving?
TIGI’s Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Shampoo & Conditioner
I used this shampoo and conditioner on Christmas morning, and I absolutely love the way it smells. Reminiscent of sugar cookies and baked goods, this shampoo and conditioner combo not only conditions and hydrates your locks, but leaves your hair smelling pleasant but not as if you dipped your head into basket of cookie dough.
Available on Amazon for $19.99 each
Philosophy’s Cinnamon Buns Body Wash

While I’m usually incredibly sceptical of any wash that is both shampoo and conditioner – Philosophy’s Cinnamon Buns 3-in-1 shampoo, body wash and bubble bath has completely blown my mind.
This product smells absolutely delicious and is fun addition to your daily wash routine – however, it won’t leave you smelling like an actual cinnamon bun. This is particularly important if you live with a boy who refuses to use sweet smelling washes as he doesn’t want to be left smelling “like a girl”.
He won’t, and neither will you, but you will both be clean and will have had a wonderful smelling bath first thing in the morning. Philosphy say this product is perfect for you if you like to “start your day with a smile” and it will do exactly that. It smells that good.
Available from Philosophy’s website, prices starting at $6
