The Top Five Best Party Shoes

By Laura Silver

I don’t just "half love" a good pair of shoes. Especially vertiginous sparkley ones! It might sound like a fashion cliché, but I have a cupboard full of them and I am proud.

A pair of shoes can transform an outfit. You might be wearing a plain skirt and top, but throw on a pair of bright-coloured platforms and you have an instant party outfit, perfect for the festive season. What’s more, your feet never get fat and you can therefore be a bit more adventurous.

You might not step out in a silver-glitter adorned dress, but that’s not to say you can’t wear glitter encrusted shoes! Here are my five favourite pairs in the shops at the moment to transform your outfit from day to night.

Gold Office Platform

Nothing says party time like a pair of shiny gold platforms! This gorgeous pair, available from Office for £85 have a simple elegance that stops them from being too Abba. The T-Bar strap supports the foot making them surprisingly comfortable.

Carvela Brogue

Brogues are a huge trend this winter, and are another heeled shoe that is surprisingly comfortable. This Black pair by Carvela would look great with a short skirt and some coloured tights. At only £49 in the Kurt Geiger sale, they are also a bargain!

Topshop's Ruby Mary Jane

In my opinion the best party shoes come with lashings of glitter, and these Sugar Glitter Mary Janes, £60 from Topshop are just the ticket. The fact that they are just like Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers is also a huge bonus in my eyes.

Nicholas Kirkwood Blue Lattice

Should you be living the dream of the designer shoe, I suggest you get yourself down to Browns and snap up this pair of Nicholas Kirkwood electric blue peep-toes with lattice detail, priced £465. The sumptuous blue silk from which they are made will seriously make any outfit, while the sculptural platform will put you right on-trend.

Bloch Pump

Personally, I couldn’t bring myself to wear a flat to a party, but then I have hardened my hooves to high heels, and am pretty short with less than svelte legs. If however, you are amongst the slinky legged, or your feet can’t take it, there is such thing as a festive flat. Dance shoe specialist Bloch also do pumps for regular wear, and this blue metallic ballerina shoe would be great for dressing up an outfit without giving yourself bunions.
