If you’re a fan of Gossip Girl and Miss Selfridges, prepare for your pretty little mind to be blown to fashionable little bits.
From April 27th on missselfridge.com and in stores starting April 30th the new Miss Selfridge for Gossip Girl collection will be for sale. Yes, that’s right. A Miss Selfridge for Gossip Girl.
Any fan of the series will know that despite the drama and cringe-worthy love affairs, the ladies and dudes of Gossip Girl seriously know how to dress. Whether you’re a fan of Serena’s tight-fighting frocks or Blair’s bows and preppy-posh attire, the fashion of Gossip Girl is always impeccable.
The Miss Selfrdige for Gossip Girl collection includes eight dresses based on the distinctive style of the four female leads: Serena van der Woodsen, Balir Waldorf, Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams.
Serena’s dresses are, of course, low-cut, clingy and sexy. Both are black with plenty of texture, with one being more loose and flowy and accessorized with a boho-style belt which captures Serena’s signature style.
Blair’s dresses are full of color and quirk. The first dress is hot pink, very Luella-inspired with a lovely pink bow. The second is a gorgeous collared and frilly white blouse, black belt (with a bow) and a floral skirt with bright yellow and pink flowers. The dresses are posh, prim, and kitschy all at the same time, and definitely scream WALDORF.
Young little Jenny’s dresses are a bit more rock ‘n roll, just like Jenny.
A white, lacy prom, strapless prom dress with a black bow at the waist seems reminiscent of Jenny’s own first collection, and the second dress is a gorgeous, sparkly, almost-metallic looking black jerery dress with beading on the front. It seems perfect for going out dancing as it moves with the body, instead of restricting it – thus is the beauty of jersey.
Finally we come to Vanessa’s dresses. While Vanessa isn’t my favourite character on the show, her dresses in this collection are absolutely my favourite. With one dress being a near floor-length maxi dress with a dark gold and black leopard print with lovely beading on the top and the other being a short and flirty black dress with a detailed gold tribal collar – Vanessa’s dresses are perfect for a Summer BBQ or picnic
