The Best Of The Best Dry Shampoos

By Anna Hennings

Whether you live where the summer heat is unbearable, or where summer is really only a few fleeting weekend heat waves (hellllooo San Francisco), there's no denying that it's almost that time of year.

Time for festivals, for weekend getaways, for picnics, for camping, for the beach and for all-night dance parties. And with all the forthcoming activities, one particular item — that's quite budget-friendly if you're in the UK (stateside, we're not quite as lucky) — will come in extremely handy if stowed away in your tote, your carry-on, your picnic basket, your backpack — even your clutch: dry shampoo.

An old trick in the book for some, dry shampoo is the ultimate quick fix, a no-fuss beauty product that actually practices what it preaches. With a few quick sprays, a slight scalp massage, and a few swipes of your hairbrush, your hair can go from grunge to gorgeous in less than two minutes.

Even if your summer calendar, at the moment, has nothing on it but client meetings, networking events, and conferences, dry shampoo can still be a serious lifesaver. Need an extra 15 minutes in the morning? Don't wet-lather-rinse-and-repeat in the shower. Cover your tresses with a shower cap, and when you get out, apply a few squirts of dry shampoo along your roots, and brush. Tada! (Eco-friendly bonus: You're saving water!)

Are you a festivalista and need to freshen up your muddied — or dirt-tousled — hair on-the-go? Going from the beach to the bar? You name it — it's got you covered:

While none of these can solely replace the act of washing and conditioning the usual way, they can sure give us time between washes. We're busy women — in the bedroom, in the kitchen, and in our professions.

Who couldn't go for an easy solution to looking fabulous?

Or talcum powder! I use wax on my fringe so if it looks a bit greasy at the end of the day I freshen it up with powder.
