Summer is here! Or, at least, that is what the weathermen would like us to believe, as they have been ranting and raving about the end of the unseasonal cold snap and the arrival of strong enough sun to frazzle us at a glance.
So, if the weatherman says it it must be true, and that is as much of an excuse as we need to jump onto the summer bandwagon (it has a BBQ in the back, how cool is that?!) and clothe ourselves for the season to come. So, what are the summer essentials?
Dresses
Firstly, a maxi dress. No good if you want to expose your bright white pins to the sun, but very relaxing to wear. You can float around in these looks stylish whilst only having to put on one item of clothing, plus you can do that fun floaty-swishy thing if you run down the stairs in one.
The Gomez Gracia Electra dress pictured about is floaty, feminine and beautiful. I love the fact that the yellow floral pattern is so different from what we normally see on the market.

I think the Sea Mist Maxi Dress from Fever s is just amazing. This beautiful swirling pattern makes it very summery, plus it is really lightweight.
Shoes
Everyone seems to be about clogs, but generally I can’t abide them, they are too clunky and ugly. My favourite shoe style for the coming season is the wedge, which gives us some decent height whilst actually being comfortable and stylish.

Wedges don’t all have to be black or tan. These bright colourful Feud Coco wedges look great and are actually surprisingly wearable.

Alternatively, wedges can also be dressed up, like with these metallic structural heels from Hush Puppies.
Picnic Bags
What is better than wandering leisurely down to the park and enjoying a proper picnic, with sandwiches and salads and cakes? Sure you may get hit by a few lads playing football or pooed on by a bird, but I think you’ll be just fine!

This picnic basket is the ultimate in luxury, and perfect for a romantic meal for two. Plus, you will look so cute and olde worlde carrying it!

But if baskets aren't your thing, there is this leather trimmed tote from River Island, which isn’t as structured but which is definitely very picnic friendly – just don’t take anything that can be easily crushed.
