Our British readers will know that this week, newspapers, weather programmes and various social media outlets solemnly declared a terrifying weather event. Predicted are weather conditions so serious, they could wipe out tranport systems, close down businesses and even kill the elderly. SNOW! An inch, maybe even two if things get really out of hand, of snow. The end of the world as we know it.
Our American readers will wonder what the eff is going on and why everyone they are following on Twitter in the UK is suddenly behaving like the apocalypse is approaching. Well America, we may have some of the most variable weather in the world, but we have no idea how to cope with it, and must go mental if the temperture deviates either way of 15C.
As such, most of us are completely unprepared when it comes to suitable footwear. Ballet pumps and heels are obviously no good, and don't get me (or any passing Australian it would seem) started on Uggs. They are not waterproof. They come from a country which has probably never seen snow, let alone designed boots to deal with it. AND they don't even look nice.
Brits! Take heed and run to your nearest high street for one of the following before the snowpocalypse happens. Yanks, well, you can never have too many pairs of boots!

On a snow day, you can't beat a classic wellington boot and the checked pattern on these will stop you looking like you're doing the gardening. Just remember to wear thick socks to keep your toes warm!

Since we treat snow with such novelty value, we may as well extend that to footwear and go for some proper, Alpine style boots, with deers on! This pair won't just keep your feet dry, but toasty too!

Even the most dedicated follower of fashion need not sacrifice comfort in the snow. These Vivienne Westwood for Melissa rubber booties are as stylish as they are practical, and also come scented with vanilla. Go on, sniff a pair if you don't believe me!
