Brilliant news for Fathers this year! Prada's Autumn Winter 2010 collection will be returning to the ‘70s.
Parents who have apparently escaped any specific fashion trend of the last 40 years may be able to reclaim their lost looks as the new releases look suspiciously like clothes found hidden away in someone's attic.
For example, the lovely but quite plain knitted brown jumper modelled by someone young and spritely can be found being worn by my father as he’s cutting trees down and being a weekend engineer.
If you're hunting for the ‘70s look, parents’ cupboards might be the place to try. Whilst parental cupboards are always the source of much amusement, it's the subtle pieces that don't shout 'prolific fashion trend' that are the best to choose in order to match Prada's look.
Perhaps just grab anything brown.
Sheepskin coats are back, so for those interested in learning ‘70s culture, slang, and what else was hip (Doc Martens) you might also try reading Adrian Mole's Diary which, whilst set in the ‘80s, drags a lot of ‘70s culture into it. You could also get a dog, become a tortured poet, and reclaim a look of the troubled adolescent.
Remember this is all an advance warning so have the next three quarters of the year to read-up and learn how to become the misunderstood intellectual, which was also terribly hip back then.
