Nicola Woods left a life of insurance broking to follow her dream of becoming a fashion designer. But for Nicola's label Beautiful Soul, fashion is about much more than style; leading designers into an eco-friendly, sustainable future is her priority. I recently had a chance to catch up with Nicola, and talk about vintage, eco-luxury fashion, and what's coming up next for Beautiful Soul...

Summer is here! Or, at least, that is what the weathermen would like us to believe, as they have been ranting and raving about the end of the unseasonal cold snap and the arrival of strong enough sun to frazzle us at a glance. So, if the weatherman says it it must be true, and that is as much of an excuse as we need to jump onto the summer bandwagon (it has a BBQ in the back, how cool is that?!) and clothe ourselves for the season to come. So, what are the summer essentials?

Sunglasses and glamour go hand in hand. From Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany, to Ray-Bans, there is something about wearing stylist shades that ups your fab level like nothing else. And while I am admittedly a fan of $10 sunglasses from Target (or $5 sunglasses from Wal-Mart) they don’t exactly have the same glam factor that, say, Oliver Goldsmith Sun...

My complexion is far from even - it's red and blotchy and thread veins make an unwelcome appearance from time-to-time. Okay, I've just described a rather unattractive alcoholic old man - it's not actually that bad. I just suffer from oversensitive blood vessels - a problem which runs in the family and is exacerbated by cold weather and lifestyle vices.

It’s that time of year again when girls are obsessed with tulle, silk, and “finding a date”. Yes, it’s prom season, again. To those of us who haven’t been in school in a decade or more, the term “prom” can fill us with nostalgia. Or, like me, bitterness that no one ever asked you to be their date, but that’s beside the point.

I know, I know, pop-up shops have been up and down all year and perhaps we shouldn't still be getting excited about them but I'm always hooked on any mention of a fashion-related one. Next week Pretaportobello - very much in the vein of Oliver Bonas currently toted as ES's Website of the Week - launch their pop up parlour and boutqiue and come offline for one day only. This ...

Do you have what it takes to walk down Brick Lane with your head held high? Do you belong in the self-consciously gritty cafés of Shoreditch with a Macbook and a soy latte on the worn wooden table in front of you? Well here's a short test to help you out.If you've ever spent more than a few minutes on Brick Lane you must have noticed something uncanny. In an area that's supposedly eclectic and filled with individualistic artists longing to express themselves, there are a surprising num...
