Non-Soppy Heart Adorned Clothing & Accessories

By Rachael Gibson

Like Hello Kitty, unicorn stickers and leopard print, there’s something endearingly appealing about love hearts.

Whether in the form of sequinned nipple tassels, in old school tattoos or emblazoned on lingerie, it certainly seems that hearts are no longer the reserve of Valentine’s cards and love letter stationery.

Love is in the air (and totally non-soppy, I promise).

Limited Collection Heart Shoes

£25, Marks & Spencer

In case you still haven’t got the memo that Marks & Spencer is the shit, maybe these shoes will change your mind. Sexy red patent leather, a sensible heel for a fully functioning day and a cute layered heart motif. What is it about these shoes that you don’t get? Look at ‘em. And they’re £25! M&S are selling a candlestick for that price; I know which I’d prefer.

Crystal Heart Clutch

Crystal Heart Clutch

£45, Accessorize

If you’re going to buy a stupidly impractical clutch bag, you might as well go for a heart-shaped sparkly crystal one. Right? Actually this bag comes with a chain option, so it’s not totally ridiculous, although I would argue that you probably can’t store more than house keys and some loose change it. Who cares, you have a nice purse, that’s what really matters.

Heart Stud Jumper

Heart Stud Jumper

£40, Topshop

If hearts are a bit lame and girly/pathetic/flowers/ponies for your taste, how about this studded option? OK, so they’re not that kind of studs (it would be a billion times more awesome if they were) but it’s still a bit more rockin’ and rollin’ than a big happy smiley red heart.

Little Heart Tights

Little Heart Tights

£8.50, Tabio

This season has definitely marked the return of decorative opaque tights, with those spotty ones in particular being worn by seemingly everyone. Tabio’s Little Heart tights are really, really cute. That’s pretty much all I have to say on the matter. Aah

Sequin Heart Sweater

Sequin Heart Sweater

$20, greygardensvintage @ Etsy

I’m not entirely convinced that this is a heart, it look a bit like just a v-shaped patch of sequins to me. Still, it’s pretty stylin’ whatever it is, and who am I to question the authority of an Etsy seller which such a good name?  I’m not sure either of the Edies would wear something so spangly, but whatevs, it’s a nice jumper.
