Next Launch 'Make Me the Next Model' Comp

By Laura Silver

This Summer, Next Directory is turning 21, but unlike the rest of us probably did, it won't be celebrating by getting drunk and hitting up its local night club.

Instead, to honour the various fashion superstars that have graced its pages during the early days of their careers, including Linda Evangelista, Yasmin Le Bon and Christy Turlington, Next Directory are launching the 'Make Me the Next Model' competition, in association with Select Model Managment, to find, just that.

Alesha Dixon and Paul Sculfor will be heading up the search for Next's face of the future, twittering, and facebooking as they go.

Anyone can enter by simply uploading a picture of themselves to facebook.com/next online, where it will be subject to the scrutiny of a public vote. The 50 most popular entries will then be whisked to a secret location in London at the end of July, where a panel from Select Model Managment, and a group of fashion insiders will choose two winners.

With the broken record that is the 'size 0' debate still sticking, and the subsequent popularity of equally dangerously sized Beth Ditto, it will be interesting to see what kind of models the public select. Will we finally select a model that actually looks like a normal person? It's in your hands!
