Ladies, we've all been there. You step out of the salon, pristinely blow-dried to bouffant perfection. You hop into your convertible and zoom off to meet some fellow ladies that lunch only to find that the darned wind has damaged your once-impeccable coiff. Life's a bitch, huh?
In the dark old days, we had to rely on good old fashioned Thelma and Louise-esque headscarves but there's a recession happening and one can't necessarily justify buying an Hermes scarf in every colour any more.
Thank the LORD himself then Mercedes have come up with a solution. The German car giants have just introduced their latest model; the 2011 E Class Convertible and it comes -- I shit you not -- with a blow-dry protecting shield.
Oh yes it does!
Mercedes have been pandering to the whims of weak and feeble drivers for some time with the 'Airscarf'.
Can you guess what that is? Yep, why bother with an actual scarf when you can have a virtual one?
Airscarf gently blows heat from the head rest to create the feeling of, well, a scarf. Mercedes say that Airscarf enables you to drive with the top down in winter without getting cold. Some might argue that knitwear would do the same job, but who are we to argue?
Anyway, back to the bouffant protector. Following Airscarf, we now have... prepare yourselves... Aircap.
Here's the science behind it. Once you let the top down and realise that your hair is about to get wrecked, you press a button to activate the Aircap. As if by magic, an extending 'wind deflector' rises majestically from the windscreen, creating an extra 2.4 inch barrier which directs wind over the passenger compartment, saving your hair from that troublesome breeziness. That's it!
For the privilege of perfect hair, Mercedes will charge you approx $42,000. One might argue that for that price, you could buy a travel hairdryer or two, or maybe even hire your own personal hairdresser.
