Make Cupcakes Not War: Why We Love Johnny Cupcakes

By Cate Sevilla

Back in 2006, I discovered a sort of underground shop on the East Coast called Johnny Cupcakes.

It was love at first sight.

Since the good ol' days back in 2001 when he used to sell T-shirts out of the trunk of his car, Johnny Cupcakes has since opened a shops in Boston, Hull, Massachusetts, and LA. The sheer amount of their merchandise has expanded incredibly, and, naturally,  the number of hipsters with a cupcake crossbone tattoos have gone through the roof.

Johnny Cupcakes has an inspiring indie Cinderella  story behind it that shows while it may not exactly be easy to stick to your guns and commit to grow  something slowly, with patience and watch it bloom the right way - it's so, so worth it.

From his signature cupcakes and crossbones T-shirts, to iPhone holders and cupcake underwear, the merchandise that Johnny Cupcakes sells is simply brilliant.

So brilliant, in fact, that if there’s anyway I could get my paws on the Half Dozen Stud Earrings Set, I would personally lick whoever made it possible. (Digitally, IRL or otherwise...)
