London Fashion Week is up and rollin’ and teetering around in its ridiculous high heels. Being a “civivlian” at LFW gives you a different perspective on everything. I love seeing the collections of new designers, old favourites, and more than anything else, I love watching the journalist, fashion bloggers, the wannabe fashion bloggers, and exhibitors parade around in their best garb.
It really is a fantastic "try too hard" parade, but it still manages to be fabulous, despite the level of wankery involved.
There are good bits, there are brilliant bits, and then there are horrific bits to London Fashion Week. The horrific being that while there’s a café at the On|Off Exhibition that takes cash only where you can buy a sandwich or salad for £8 , or random, expensive cafés in weird locations at Somerset House – food isn’t exactly flowing at London Fashion Week. Which is annoying, and easy to tut as simply being a part of fashion culture.
Do they really not provide that much food because everyone in fashion is meant to be starving? Or do they just figure if you're bothered about eating, you should have to leave the tents and the exhibition and go to Pret, like I saw so many people doing. Surely they should just give you a damn sandwich for free, but what do I know.
I spent most of yesterday hunting around the Exhibition and I found some glorious gems. Laura talked to you yesterday about Tatty Devine – so please allow me to show you some of the other fabulous goodies that are on display, and that you’ll be able to enjoy if you make it to the London Fashion Weekend.
