Last Night, Harriet's Muse allowed us a last little snippet of this summer, with Pimms cocktails, and glitter-dusted strawberry meringues, whilst giving us a reason to look forward to next summer, with a sneak preview of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
Harriet's Muse are most famous for their gorgeous corsets and there were plenty on display at yesterday's presentation, alongside printed dresses, blouses and scarves, and voluminous taffeta skirts. Following the closure of their Kingly Court store, just off Carnaby Street, so that Harriet's Muse could concentrate solely on designing and producing their collections, this season sees them branching out to accessories in the form of slouchy black leather bags, and thick leather waist-belts.
The belts, which had a structured, corset-style look about them, provide an accessible way to wear the Harriet's Muse signature look in more everyday contexts, because let's face it, you can't really wear a corset to the office.
Here are a few of my favourite pieces:
Harriet's Muse reflected the slouchy, balloon shape of the hemline on this gorgeous silk dress with a quirky monochrome balloon print, which also loked great in grey on this belted blouse.
Corset shapes made their way into dresses including this cute ruffle-skirted cocktail dress.
I particularly liked the way the skirt plumed upwards at the back, Burlesque style!
Harriet's Muse nodded to fellow corset-lover, Vivienne Westwood with this voluminous taffeta skirt. Gorgeous black leather corset-belt. Probs better worn around the waist.
