With Camilla giving us the low down on eco-friendly fashion every week for the last month or so, I’ve been admittedly paying a bit more attention to the greener side of style.
So when I read about The North Circular Knitwear over at Daily Candy, which was created by the green and intriguing Lily Cole, I I couldn’t help but be interested.
The North Circular is a knitwear company that “rescues rare Wensleydale Longwool sheep and grazes them peacefully on organic land in Yorkshire” and produces gorgeous, incredibly well made knitted goods for the masses to purchase.
On The North Circular’s website, you can not only meet your knitters (practically all of whom look like your nan) or your sheep (awwww) or even browse The North Circular’s “green credentials”. Even better, if you click on “charity” you’ll discover that apparently 5% of The North Circular’s profits and all of founder Lily Cole's profits will go to the EJ Foundation.
How’s that for wool and knitwear that makes you feel warm and fuzzy and both the in and outside!
My only problem with a lot of eco-friendly fashion lines and collections is that they look eco-friendly. They just look a bit odd, a bit OTT funky and make you feel a little too Sienna Miller-Boho for your own liking.
However, the knitwear from The North Circular is gorgeous.
Here are a couple of my favorite pieces...
