Jena Theo is the winner of Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden, 2009, and I have to say that I'm pretty damn excited about that.
Today saw the climax of the annual Fashion Fringe competition at The Flower Cellars, with four different innovative designers marching their finest creations down the catwalk, draped across many a painstakingly thin female model.
The four finalists were announced on may 19th, and they had three months to work on their collections. During this time, they underwent an "intense mentoring program". Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden provided the designers with the funds, studio space and technical assistance to create 12 "looks" for their Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden capsule collection - and today their collections were unvieled to the public.
I have to admit that I was the most taken by Jena Theo's designs. Maybe it was the black lipstick. Maybe it was the gothic-esque draped layers. Or maybe it was the way her models were cockier than the others, posing at the end of the runway with their chins up, and their elbows out.
A huge congratulations to Jena Theo and all of the other designers that particpated in Fashion Fringe.
You've made Mama Donnatella very proud.
