On the eve of my very first baby shower (not mine, OBVIOUSLY, I mean as a guest, are you mad?), I happened upon this picture of Mel B’s little girl, Angel.
I’m not normally one to waste my time on celebrity babies ( was revising for the ‘guess the celeb baby’ game, if you must know) but looking as this picture got me thinking (in a vaguely Carrie Bradshaw fashion): is it OK to have a child for the sole purpose of making it look like an idiot?
I know people have long treated babies and children as a living, breathing Barbie dolls. Katie Price, Gwen Stefani, Katie Holmes – I have no doubt that they’re all excellent mothers, but they do seem to spend an awful lot of time and money giving their kids expensive haircuts/colours and buying them wardrobes with a greater cumulative value than the average house.
I get that you want your kid to look nice, and maybe even ‘cool’ if you’re that way inclined, but why does Mel B feel the need to give her baby girl a Mr T-esque Mohican?
I know people clip their dogs in summer so that they don’t overheat, and I know my boyfriend wears his hair shorter in the summer months because he doesn’t like getting a hot head, but trimming 2/3 of her head hair? Why Mel B? Why?
It’s not cute, it’s not clever and I’m pretty sure it’s not appreciated by a two year old, which leads me to believe the sole reason she’s done it is, as predicted, to make Angel look like an idiot. Why would you do that?
