I have to give credit to @MiggyfromPOUT for writing a blog post on Motel Rocks and introducing me to the site, and now I love it so much that I feel it rightly deserves a further BitchBuzz mention. Motel clothing is a relatively new online women’s clothing brand taking the fashion world by storm. In a nutshell, the brand is perfect for picking up some bang on trend pieces for nice, recession friendly, won’t break the bank prices.
The site features some gorgeous floral, Body-con dresses which Lily Allen has been seen wearing on her recent tour and other celebs including the Saturdays and Duffy also love the Motel funky style which is described as “Punk, Left-Field, Retro & Fun-Filled ‘Killer-Style’ Clothing”. Other pieces include patterned and print style tops, 90’s style leggings and some rather edgy looking skirts, jackets and jumpsuits.
The inspiration behind Motel was found when the team of two owners took a trip to the West coast of America just for shopping purposes (my god, what a holiday that would be) and basically ransacked each and every thrift and vintage shop they could find in search of the perfect jeans, frocks, tops and jackets.
The web is saturated with online fashion stores, some great, some not so, but after coming home, the two owners of the brand wanted to create a label that held the same excitement of those days spent rummaging. Motel therefore wants to allow us fashaholics that same excitement and buzz when shopping and stumbling across something truly amazing and have kind of re-invented a vintage style with a modern, almost punky twist. The pieces are definitely funky and unique enough to get that little feeling in your tummy when you type in your credit card details and then can’t wait for the postman to arrive with your goodies. Or maybe I’m just sad like that.
The Motel Body-con dresses are pretty special – I know many of us girlies resent the whole Body-con trend as let’s be honest, the style isn’t particularly forgiving for any lumps and bumps the faithful shift frock never fails to disguise, but having myself tentatively bought the Sarah stripy dress (I‘m big into stripes at the moment), I found the cut to actually be very flattering and dinner eating friendly (please note however; not me in the picture – the dress looks particularly good on this model).
Aside from the website, Motel also has a shop in Bristol which also stocks vintage shoes, bags and other vintage-esque accessories. This is definitely a label which is super trendy but has a distinct edgy look which is instantly recognisable. The dresses have also a gorgeous neck line which nicely shows off the back without being too revealing. Lovely.
