I could not be happier that the shops seem to have exploded with printed trousers in every incarnation. I no longer have to trawl charity tops for a musty old pair that are droopy in the crotch. No more digging out granny’s castoffs from the attic and having to take out the waist or wearing them as leggings (granny was a tiny lady). Not only is there every colour and print under the sun, they fit well and are actually flattering to the naked eye.
I’m not really a fan of wearing jeans or trousers - much too binding around the waist after a big lunch or dinner. I have waistband problems (and no I am not morbidly obese). I just find jeans very restrictive and not at all comfortable. Printed trousers on the other hand - especially if they are in a silky fabric - are a dream to wear and feel almost as comfortable as my pajamas. Floral, tribal, polka dot, ikat print - or make your own out of vintage fabric if you’re so inclined.
As much as I love them, I’m not under any allusion of their sex appeal. Weird printed pants are probably not the best option for a first date. But who cares? It may be a good tactic for repelling any unwanted sexual advances. Especially if you wear yours with a pair of brothel creepers and a vintage sweater. Fit. You heard it here first - taking style tips from Forrest Gump won’t do you any favours.
I’ll be pairing mine with stripes, polka dots, plain tees, light knit jumpers and clashing prints when I feel like giving the general public a headache with my Magic Eye inspired outfit. A few of my favourites...
