It’s that time of year again when girls are obsessed with tulle, silk, and “finding a date”. Yes, it’s prom season, again. To those of us who haven’t been in school in a decade or more, the term “prom” can fill us with nostalgia. Or, like me, bitterness that no one ever asked you to be their date, but that’s beside the point.
Vimto have caught prom fever and in collaboration with the launch of their new Cherry Vimto, they’ve teamed up with Prom Royalty to launch a competition for gals to design their perfect prom dress.
The lucky lady with the winning design will have her frock brought to life and created especially for their prom (or shotgun wedding). Plus, a limited edition version of the same will go on sale at the Prom Royalty website with all of the proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Victoria Ward from Prom Royalty explains...
“Proms have proved to be massively popular with teenagers and schools alike, adding an exciting highlight at the end of the school year and are fast becoming a rite of passage. We’re delighted to be working with Cherry Vimto to give the winner of this competition their first opportunity as a fashion designer.”
To keep even those ladies who don’t have their dream dress chosen, Cherry Vimto and Mizz Magazine have also partnered up to launch www.cherryprom.co.uk, the Cherry Vimto Prom Rescue Center, which gives survival guide tips on all the prom advice you’ll need.
In addition to cherryprom.co.uk’s advice, I have a few tips of my own I’d like to share:
- Find a dress you like, and unless you have the winning design from the competition, my advice would be that you don’t spend too much money on it as inevitably someone will spill beer on it. Also, you will never wear it again. Also, by the time you’ve graduated, no one will give a crap about your prom photos.
- Go with a date you actually like. If the guy you like hasn’t asked you, go with a group of friends. The real world isn’t going to care if you didn’t have a date. And those who do care, well, can suck it.
