Following in Target's footsteps, H&M is on-board the high-fashion for fast-fashion bandwagon. Japanese fashion label, Comme des Garçons, has designed a fall/winter collection for H&M that launches on November 13th. However, it is launching a few days earlier, in Japan to commemorate the early November opening of Tokyo's second H&M store).
Replete with polka-dots -- tiny and huge, distressed edges, and asymmetrical seaming galore, the collections for both women and men make the label's monochromatic motifs available off the runway at a price point that most of us can actually afford. Or in the case of the $349 limited edition piece, price points that are more within budget than the brand's actual ready-to-wear attire.
While it's always exciting to find designer fashion at a discount, I'm not so sure how the dropped-crotch shorts will play out as a winter trend, especially as office attire.
Peter Pan-collared, polka-dot shirts, however, would definitely add a bit of spice and spunk to a winter wardrobe with too many drably colored shirts.
When it comes down to what will sell, I imagine the jackets -- fresh with asymmetrical pockets, patches and plackets -- will fly off the racks.
As will the accessories: scarves, shoes, bags.
Even the polka-dot-decorated unisex fragrance.
As fun, fabulous and exciting as this partnership is, the release will be limited, appearing only in major locations -- New York, LA, Chicago, and yes, San Francisco.
The full collection will be up on the H&M website for a preview on October 23rd. Get ready!
