Although the British weather this week may have you believing otherwise, it’s summer.
We’re half way through August, and while we should be basking in glorious sunlight and living off a diet of ice cream and lemonade, unfortunately the weather has other ideas.
I decided today that maybe by wearing entirely summer-themed clothing, I could force the sun to come out and stay out. It’s probably not going to work – I’ll probably look like one of those stupid British people who goes out in miniskirts and flip flops in the middle of winter, but damn it, I’ll give it my best shot. Here’s some summer-themed bits to help you make believe summer is here.

Not only is this dress yellow – hello, summer! – it also reveals a nice bit of shoulder. Shoulders are the new cleavage, in my opinion. Everyone loves shoulders. This dress also has pockets, which adds 20 points to any summer dress.

Why what a sexy little shoe we have here! A delightful shade of summery cyan, a little retro styling in the form of a bow/peep-toe combo, a preposterously high heel… these cutesy burlesque beauties may be on the pricey side, but they’re pretty and make me think of swimming pools.

This modette dress in cutesy floral print may well be XS, but if that’s you then SCORE because this is basically summer in fabric form. Yes it ticks the boxes for yellow-ness, floral-ness and short-ness, but more importantly it has an elasticated waistband – and let’s face it, nothing says summer like stuffing yourself silly with BBQ.
