While fashion as an industry may take itself way too seriously, there are a good number of companies and brands that don’t. There are some designers out there who still believe in whimsy and fun, and manage to be functional all at the same time.
While browsing online, I’ve recently come across a handful of extremely fun, light-hearted bits of clothing and accessories, and they were just too good to keep to myself.
If you’re looking for fun, colourful and functional accessories and dresses for the Summer, that will still be useful in the Autumn (with layers, of course) then the below items will surely prove to be worth every penny.

For only £29 you can look like a fairy princess, any day of the week! Loulou Loves You has a large variety of different, moderately priced flower headbands, including the option to have a custom-made headband created, just for your pretty little head. My personal favorite is the "Marie" headband, as like Loulou says, wearing it is like having "a little garden party on the side of your head."

I recently discovered Esska shoes and sandals, and while I’m not a big clogs fan, I absolutely love pretty much every shoe in Esska’s Summer 2010 collection. They’re all colourful without having the color be overbearing, and they all see incredibly comfortable. While the £105 price tag for these gorgeous shoes may feel a bit steep, considering how gorgeous and functional they are, I think purchasing these babies would be well worth it.

This sundress may not look all that exciting, but it is my favourite dress that I’ve been wearing this summer. It’s pretty see-through, so I bought a cheap slip at Marks & Spencer to go underneath it, but the fit is fantastic, it’s incredibly comfortable, and it can easily be dressed up or down. It’s very basic, but in Summer, I think basic is best. Plus, it’s only £12!

While the name “long pu” might sound a bit curious, this bas is absolutely gorgeous. Bright and funky, just like the Red or Dead brand, this clutch also comes with a thin chain strap, just in case you have a habit of setting small handbags down and, you know, losing them. This bag is available for £35 from House of Fraser.
