BitchBuzz Review: Toni & Guy's label.m Minis

By Jo Gifford

I have worked for the last 12 years within the hair industry as both a designer and writer, so it's a pleasure to review some products from my old friends at Toni & Guy. On the testing table today are a selection of label.m mini essentials hair products: the Gentle Cleansing Shampoo, Daily Shine Conditioner, Blow Out Spray, Shine Spray and Curl Spray for the last week ready to report to you ladies of Bitch Buzz.

label.m is the professional haircare range created by the Mascolo run Toni & Guy crew and is stocked in all Toni & Guy and Essensuals salons as well as other approved stockists in the UK.

The premise is based on the 4 'C''s: Cleanse, Condition, Create, Complete, with products in each category available for selecting as per your specific needs.

Testing, Testing...

My hair went into testing mode last week having been treated to some horrendously cheap and nasty products of late, with my resulting "do" not looking as shiny and coiffed as one would hope for.

My poor neglected barnet was a grateful recipient of the light and subtly fragrant Gentle Cleansing Shampoo and Daily Shine conditioner. Straight off the bat my hair went from feeling like frazzled straw to feeling healthier and glossier,  ready to be styled. Liking this a lot. I tried the non-aerosol pumped Blow Out spray before blow drying, giving a good blast from roots to ends and working through with my brush and fingers.

I am not a huge fan of volumising sprays, etc, which can leave hair feeling sticky and heavy, so this stuff was a pleasant surprise. It gives enough weight to add some obligatory "jooj" and just enough hold to make my hair pliable to backcomb and put up, or smoothed down to be straightened. Within 15 minutes of the first trial use my haircut looked less tired and in need of attention than it had been and, after a spritz of the Shine Spray to finish I had that salon hair feeling which only good professional products give.

The Curl Spray has been a great addition to my trial set. I usually straighten my hair to go out, but I used this little number  to curl my hair with straighteners and scrunch up with my fingers. My curls lasted a good few hours without feeling brittle so another thumbs up given.

The Verdict

My hair hasn't needed to be washed as often and holds its style longer, so I am once again convinced of professional haircare benefits. The minis are a good price ranging from £2.50 - £3.50 per product, and are perfect for the gym  and for holiday hair  - they are 60ml so can fit in hand luggage without having a one to one with the airport bin en route, and each contain Enviroshield, a UV filter to allegedly prevent hair frazzle on the beach.

They are also ideal for for giving each one a try before investing in a larger size - and professional shampoos are just that , an investment - but given the need to use them less often than high street cheapies and the exponentially better results I would say go for it girls.

Give these bad boys a go!
