Although the organization of the House of Holland show Saturday night at the Bloomsbury Ballroom was beyond a catastrophe, BitchBuzz was backstage before the show, hanging with Henry, the models, and observing the “magic”.
Henry himself was actually quite calm and collected during rehearsals (despite models turning up late) and was his usual charming self behind the scenes, boppin’ and groovin’ to the R&B tunes while the models practiced strutting up and down the catwalk before showtime.
The members of the BitchBuzz team that were downstairs said that the sheer amount and specifically the placement of the photographers and paps downstairs contributed to why the room suddenly filled up, and why there were loads of people with tickets left outside standing in the cold, while Holland’s paisley patterns and sideways ponytails hit the catwalk.

The photographers were repeatedly flocking to the front-row celebs such as Pixie Geldof, Alexa Chung and Nicola Roberts, despite being told to take their photo unless they were posing on the catwalk. Shouting and “well HE was doing it FIRST” type rows broke out, thus further delaying those outside in the cold getting in.

However – if you’re a House of Holland fan and can appreciate his “reinterpreted Hip Hop culture” and “Downtown New York stook kids” vibe, and just take into consideration what happened on the catwalk, the show was highly entertaining.

The music helped make the show, with a stellar Hip Hop medley of “Back that Ass Up” and MIA’s “Paper Planes” created a fun atmosphere that caused even Pixie Geldof to bust a move in her seat.

The models’ big earrings from Katie Hillier for House of Holland and the fantastic high-set side ponytails created by the Sebastian Professional Creative Team really made the models feel like fantastic characters in Henry’s paisley production.

The styling by Sam Ranger was impeccable and fit right in the sea of pinks, purples, blues, and greys mixed with the bandanas and stripes.
Overall, I wouldn’t personally wear a lot of Holland’s creations, and together a lot of his pieces seem overwhelming for your average (fashionable) bear. However, on their own, his “monochromatic separates “ with their “candy hues in pink” and “aqua and lilac” infusion are pretty damn wearable.
