When I think about typical Crocs clog-like footwear, I not only gag,
but don't take them, or the wearer, seriously. Crocs are for the beach.
For your kids. For working in the garage or around the house. I realize
they have cool antibacterial and slip-resistant properties going for
them, but even their website admits that Crocs were originally "intended as a boating/outdoor shoe."
Alas, Crocs are not for the office. Or a date. Or an outing out with the girls...or for any urban outing, really. Even Crocs' current commercials
make fun of the love-hate relationships people have with their shoes.
Their shoes are fabulous in theory -- but really, can't we make them
look better?
Then! Suddenly! Crocs realized they could potentially be on to
something if they could master the spiffy formula of their ugly clogs
into a beautiful line of shoes for women. I'm not talking about the
first high heels Crocs designed - you know, the clunky, awkward, and
blatantly rubber "Cyprus" and "Sassari."
I'm talking about their new venture: YOU by crocs.
A seasonal shoe line that's actually trendy without being overly so,
and...comfortable? Yep. You got it. It's all in the sole, with extra
padding right where you need it most: the ball of your foot and your
heel.
Debuting this September, YOU is coming out with a Secret Identity Collection.
This collection features shoes like the Mischievous Minx ankle bootie
and other feminine styles for women who want a new favorite pair of
shoes without sacrificing a toe, an ankle, and boxes of band-aids.
Finally, Crocs! What took so long?
